We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading. You will play a crucial role in supporting the child’s learning, development, and emotional wellbeing, ensuring they have the best possible experience in a classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child with specific needs, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities
- Assist with the implementation of personalised learning plans and support strategies
- Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and activities according to the child’s needs
- Promote social and emotional development and help the child develop independence and confidence
- Monitor the child’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals as required
- Ensure the child’s physical, social, and emotional needs are met throughout the school day
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity, is desirable
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting children
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- A flexible and proactive attitude with a willingness to adapt to the child’s needs
- An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment
