About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading. You will play a crucial role in supporting the child’s learning, development, and emotional wellbeing, ensuring they have the best possible experience in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with specific needs, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities
  • Assist with the implementation of personalised learning plans and support strategies
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt resources and activities according to the child’s needs
  • Promote social and emotional development and help the child develop independence and confidence
  • Monitor the child’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals as required
  • Ensure the child’s physical, social, and emotional needs are met throughout the school day
About You:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity, is desirable
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting children
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A flexible and proactive attitude with a willingness to adapt to the child’s needs
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment
