About the Role
Supply Hive are looking for an experienced, passionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Reading for pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of complex needs (including ASC, profound and multiple learning difficulties, sensory impairments and physical disabilities).

Your Role
You will:
• Deliver high-quality teaching for children with MLD, SLD, PMLD and associated complex needs.
• Use assessment for learning, interpret data and set relevant individual targets.
• Maintain structured, stimulating classrooms and manage specialist/sensory equipment as needed.
• Promote student agency, independence and progression to next life/school stage.
• Support colleagues, contribute to school improvement priorities and uphold safeguarding, equality and inclusion standards.
Requirements
• Valid UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
• Proven experience teaching children/young people with significant special educational needs (experience with autism spectrum condition, PMLD or sensory impairments is a plus).
• Solid understanding of specialist communication methods, differentiation for complex needs and working in multi-professional settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a flexible, positive mindset and commitment to inclusive education.
• A professional commitment to safeguarding, equality of opportunity and supporting vulnerable learners.
• Right to work in the UK.

Your Role

- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with significant SEND, tailoring approaches to meet individual EHCP outcomes and support needs.
- Use specialist communication systems (Makaton, visual prompts, AAC, sensory strategies) and collaborate with therapists and TAs to ensure access and progress.
- Foster independence and life skills alongside academic learning—developing young people for their next steps and beyond.
- Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment where each student is valued, challenged and supported.
- Engage with families, multi-disciplinary teams and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to pupil development.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school’s culture of continuous improvement.
