Sports Coach Mentor

A supportive SEN school in Milton Keynes is looking for a confident and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, focusing on building strong relationships, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies to help pupils re-engage with learning.

In this role, you’ll be working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, providing consistent support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils develop trust, manage emotions, and access learning in a structured and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and engaging lessons
• Support behaviour management using a calm and consistent approach
• Encourage emotional regulation and social development

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
• A calm, resilient, and patient approach
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Ability to build rapport and set clear boundaries
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
