About the Role
Supply Hive is recruiting on behalf of a family and specialist therapeutic provision seeking an experienced Functional Skills Teacher / Keyworker to support a young adult with complex SEND needs. This unique permanent opportunity is based across Windsor and Bagshot, combining personalised education, therapeutic support, community engagement, and life skills development. Working on a one-to-one basis, you will play a pivotal role in helping a young person build confidence, independence, and essential skills for adulthood.
This is far more than a traditional teaching role. You'll design and deliver an engaging, personalised curriculum focused on Functional Skills and practical life skills, working closely with a multidisciplinary team including therapists, psychologists, and family members. Learning is tailored around the young person's interests and aspirations, with a strong focus on community access, independence, communication, and preparing for future opportunities. The role also includes supporting the young person during community activities and providing transport between settings using a vehicle provided during working hours.
Responsibilities
✨ Deliver engaging one-to-one Functional Skills lessons across subjects including English, Maths, ICT, Science, Cooking, and Art
✨ Support the young person in working towards Entry Level qualifications and accreditations
✨ Adapt teaching strategies to meet complex SEND needs, including speech and language difficulties, anxiety, learning difficulties, and OCD
✨ Work collaboratively with therapists, parents, and local authority professionals to support EHCP outcomes
✨ Develop independence, communication, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing
✨ Promote practical life skills through real-life learning opportunities within the home and local community
✨ Monitor progress, maintain records, and gather evidence for accreditation purposes
✨ Support and safeguard the young person across educational, home, and community settings
✨ Transport the young person to educational provision and community-based activities
✨ Help create positive, enjoyable learning experiences built around the young person's interests and hobbies
Requirements
✅ QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
✅ Experience teaching Functional Skills and supporting pupils with complex SEND needs
✅ Strong understanding of personalised learning and sensory-based teaching approaches
✅ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
✅ Patient, adaptable, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
✅ Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
✅ Confident using IT systems, Microsoft Office, and educational software
✅ Full UK driving licence
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Comfortable supporting learning across educational, home, and community environments
If you're an experienced SEND teacher looking for a rewarding role where you can have a significant impact on a young person's life, we'd love to hear from you.
At Supply Hive, safeguarding is a top priority. All candidates undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding measures to ensure the well-being of students. We offer full assistance to make sure everything is in place before you start.
