SEN Learning Support Assistant

Are you a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA or Learning Support Assistant looking for a role where you can make a real difference?
We’re working with a specialist SEN school in Slough supporting pupils with a range of complex learning and additional needs.
The school offers a nurturing and highly supportive environment, with a strong focus on helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and communication skills alongside their education.

The role
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day.
You may be supporting pupils with:

• Autism and communication needs
• Complex learning difficulties
• Sensory needs
• Social and emotional needs
• Speech and language difficulties
• Challenging or dysregulated behaviour

Every pupil is different, so you'll need to be able to adapt your approach, remain patient and build positive relationships based on trust.
The role can be incredibly rewarding, particularly for someone who enjoys seeing the small steps of progress that can make a huge difference to a young person.
We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people
• Ideally has experience within SEN, specialist education or care
• Is patient, calm and compassionate
• Can confidently support pupils with complex needs
• Is comfortable with personal care where required
• Can manage challenging situations in a calm and consistent way
• Is a strong team player
• Genuinely wants to help pupils achieve their potential

SEN experience is desirable but not essential. We’d also love to hear from people with backgrounds in care, youth work, support work, mentoring or similar roles.
