About the Role
Supply Hive is supporting a local primary school in Slough to recruit a full time SEN Teacher for the SEN unit.
The successful candidate will take lead responsibility for a class within the school’s SEN Unit, supporting pupils with significant special educational needs, the majority of whom have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role also involves leading and guiding a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to ensure the highest standards of provision and care.
Responsibilities:
🔵Promote the School’s and Academy Trust’s aims positively, and use effective strategies to monitor motivation and morale.
🔵Develop good personal relationships within a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive working culture.
🔵Establish and develop close relationships with all staff, parents, governors, and the wider community.
🔵Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of audiences including pupils, colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
🔵Create a purposeful, secure, yet challenging and effective learning environment in each class taught.
🔵Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN.
🔵Lead and direct a team of support staff to ensure pupils’ needs are met effectively and consistently.
🔵Support the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to reviews.
🔵Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
🔵Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and pupil well being at all times.
Requirements:
✅Full-time availability.
✅A creative and flexible practitioner who can adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse needs.
✅The ability to respond imaginatively to the challenges of curriculum delivery and development within a dynamic SEN provision focused on individual pupil needs.
✅Experience using, or a willingness to learn to use, the TEACCH approach, PECS, and AAC, including Makaton, presented in a clear and well-structured way.
✅Right to work in the UK.
✅DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain a new one.
