About the Role
Supply Hive are supporting a specialist provision in Slough that works with young people who’ve found mainstream education challenging and need a more personalised, practical approach to learning. The setting offers a mix of academic and vocational pathways and places a big focus on building confidence, life skills and positive choices for the future. They’re now looking for a committed Sports Coach Mentor to join their team.
In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive staff group who genuinely care about removing barriers to learning and creating opportunities for every young person. The students often thrive with active, hands-on learning — and sport plays a huge part in helping them re-engage, regulate and build self-esteem.
Responsibilities
🏅 Lead engaging sports sessions tailored to students with a range of SEMH and behavioural needs
🤝 Build trusting, positive relationships to encourage participation and resilience
📚 Support learning in and out of the classroom, using sport to inspire focus and motivation
🎯 Help students develop teamwork, communication and emotional regulation skills
🧠 Work closely with teachers, mentors and pastoral staff to support behaviour plans
📈 Encourage progress by celebrating small wins and modelling positive routines
Requirements
✔ Experience coaching young people (school, coaching club, outreach, youth work or similar)
✔ Confidence supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
✔ A calm, patient approach and the ability to de-escalate situations
✔ Energy, consistency and a genuine interest in helping young people make better choices
✔ Right to Work in the UK & willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS
✔ Relevant coaching qualifications are a bonus but not essential
If you’re someone who loves using sport to bring the best out of young people and want to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
At Supply Hive, safeguarding is a top priority. All candidates undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding measures to ensure the well-being of students. We offer full assistance to make sure everything is in place before you start.
