About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and committed Teacher of the Deaf to join an inclusive primary school in High Wycombe. Supply Hive is supporting the school in recruiting for this fixed-term position. We are seeking a skilled practitioner who is dedicated to supporting a deaf and hearing-impaired pupil to access learning, thrive academically, and participate fully in school life.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, specialist support, and tailored interventions for the pupil with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities:
🔵 Deliver specialist teaching for pupils with hearing impairments across the primary age range.
🔵 Assess pupils’ communication, language, and auditory needs and plan appropriate support.
🔵 Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt and differentiate classroom lessons and resources.
🔵 Provide guidance on deaf awareness, communication strategies, and inclusive classroom practice.
🔵 Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to individual support plans.
🔵 Liaise with families, audiology services, and other external professionals to ensure joined-up support.
🔵 Promote the use of hearing technology and ensure it is checked and functioning effectively.
🔵 Contribute to creating an inclusive school environment where children with hearing loss can participate confidently.
Requirements:
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
✅ Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of the Deaf (MQTD), or currently undertaking the qualification.
✅ Experience supporting children with hearing impairments in an educational setting.
✅ Strong understanding of deaf education and hearing technology.
✅ Ability to tailor teaching to meet individual learner needs.
✅ DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain a new one.
