We’re working with a fantastic SEMH provision in Slough who are looking for a full-time Behavioural Support TA to join their team. The school supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom have experienced barriers to education and need a nurturing, consistent presence in the classroom.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a calm, resilient approach who’s passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning. You’ll be working closely with class teachers and the school’s pastoral team to support regulation, build trust, and help children succeed both socially and academically.

What the role will look like:
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them access learning in a safe and structured way
  • Using de-escalation strategies and modelling calm behaviour during moments of dysregulation
  • Helping pupils recognise their emotions, use coping techniques, and build resilience over time
  • Supporting transitions throughout the school day and acting as a consistent, grounded presence
  • Helping implement individual behaviour plans and contributing to reviews with the wider team
  • Encouraging pupils to reflect on their progress and celebrate wins, no matter how small
🧠 Techniques you may use include:
  • Zones of Regulation
  • Emotion Coaching
  • Restorative conversations
  • Visual timetables and social stories
  • Calm corners or sensory breaks
  • Praise and reward-based systems
  • Grounding techniques and breathing exercises 
Responsibilities:
✅ Support the emotional well being and mental health of pupils
✅ Help pupils to stay on task and re-engage when dysregulated
✅ Work closely with teachers, TAs and external professionals
✅ Track progress and support behaviour interventions
✅ Promote independence, confidence and self-worth

Requirements:
🌟 Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
🌟 A calm, empathetic and resilient approach
🌟 Strong communication and de-escalation skills
🌟 Understanding of trauma-informed practice is a real bonus
🌟 Right to work in the UK & a child workforce DBS (we can support with this)
