We’re working with a lovely special school in High Wycombe who are looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. The school supports children and young people aged 3–19 with complex additional needs including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Severe Speech and Language Needs, and Autism. It’s a nurturing, well-resourced setting with a strong focus on communication, sensory learning, and individual development.

This is a really rewarding and varied TA role, working closely with experienced class teachers and therapists to support pupils with a range of physical, emotional, and communication needs. You’ll be joining a dedicated team who are passionate about helping every child learn, grow and feel safe. You may be based 1:1 or supporting a small group, depending on the needs of the class. The site is calm and child-focused – a fantastic environment for someone who’s patient, hands-on, and truly cares.

Responsibilities 🧩
  • Supporting pupils with SEN in the classroom on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assisting with sensory activities, communication programmes, and therapy-led interventions
  • Promoting emotional regulation and a calm, consistent learning space
  • Supporting personal care needs where required
  • Collaborating with teaching staff and therapists to deliver tailored support
  • Helping to record and celebrate progress in line with each child’s EHCP
Requirements ✅
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or youth work background)
  • A calm, positive, and proactive attitude
  • Comfortable supporting personal care and sensory needs
  • Reliable, committed, and ready to get stuck in
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or happy to apply for one)
