Community Care LSA

Supply Hive are working alongside a specialist education setting in Aylesbury who are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their Community Care pathway.
This is an opportunity to support young people aged 15–25 who may have SEND and/or SEMH needs and may need time to build trust and confidence in education.
Learning is focused on real-life experiences, community activities, independence and developing the skills young people need for life beyond education.
You will work alongside tutors and learners to help young people stay engaged, build confidence and take positive steps forward.

The role will involve:

• Supporting learners in classroom and community-based activities.
• Helping young people develop independence, communication and life skills.
• Working 1:1 and in small groups.
• Encouraging engagement, attendance and participation.
• Supporting learners with routines and expectations.
• Building positive and trusting relationships.
• Responding calmly to behaviour, frustration and anxiety.
• Supporting trips, visits and practical activities in the community.
• Assisting tutors with session delivery and preparation.
• Tracking learner progress and engagement.

We're looking for someone who has:

• Experience working with young people.
• An interest in community work, care or supporting others.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Level 2 Maths and English.
• A willingness to work towards a Level 3 qualification.

You do not necessarily need previous experience working in education. We are keen to hear from people with backgrounds in care, community work, youth work, support work or similar roles who have a genuine interest in helping young people develop confidence and independence.
