About the Role
This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a brand-new “Introduction to Computing” course and make it something genuinely engaging for young people who may not have had the best experience with education.
You’ll be working with learners aged 15–25, many of whom have SEND or SEMH needs, helping them build confidence through practical, hands-on computing.
This isn’t about delivering dry IT lessons — it’s about making technology feel accessible, relevant and enjoyable. Whether that’s through gaming, creative projects, problem-solving or everyday digital skills, your role is to help learners have those moments of:
👉 “I didn’t think I could do that.”
The setting has a really community feel, with a strong focus on creating a calm, supportive environment where learners can succeed.

What you’ll be doing
- Delivering engaging, practical sessions across an Entry Level–Level 1 computing curriculum
- Covering areas like:
- basic IT skills & digital literacy
- online safety
- Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
- introductory coding & gaming
- creative digital tasks and real-life scenarios
- Building learners’ confidence, independence and problem-solving skills
- Embedding Maths & English naturally into sessions
- Creating a calm, inclusive classroom environment that works for young people with additional needs
- Using a trauma-informed, relational approach to behaviour and engagement
- Tracking progress and keeping records up to date
- Working closely with LSAs, pastoral staff and wider teams
- Supporting learners with next steps, including work experience and career pathways
- Confident using everyday IT tools (especially Microsoft 365)
- Someone who can make computing feel simple, engaging and accessible
- Experience working with young people — this could be:
- teaching
- tutoring
- mentoring
- youth work
- A patient, calm and encouraging approach
- An interest in supporting learners with SEND / SEMH
- Strong communication and organisation skills
