About the Role
Supply Hive are supporting a specialist setting in the Downley area that caters for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school provides a highly nurturing, sensory-rich environment where communication, independence and wellbeing are at the heart of the curriculum. They’re looking for a calm, caring PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their team and support pupils aged 4–19 with complex needs.
The staff team here are warm, dedicated and incredibly child-centred. Every day is structured around individual needs, therapeutic approaches and helping each young person experience success in their own way.
Responsibilities
🌟 Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD
🧩 Use sensory activities, communication aids and visual tools to engage learners
👐 Support with personal care, physical assistance and mobility
🤝 Work closely with teachers and therapists to follow EHCP targets
🧘 Create a calm, reassuring environment that supports regulation and comfort
📘 Help pupils access a curriculum focused on sensory exploration, life skills and independence
Requirements
✔ Experience supporting children or young adults with PMLD, complex needs or severe learning difficulties
✔ A patient, gentle approach and genuine passion for SEN
✔ Comfortable supporting with personal care and manual handling (training can be provided)
✔ Ability to follow routines while staying flexible to individual needs
✔ Reliable, nurturing and confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team
✔ Right to Work in the UK & willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS
