About the Role
Supply Hive are supporting a specialist provision in Maidenhead that caters for children and young people with autism, offering highly individualised programmes built around communication, structure and consistency. The school follows an approach that’s child-centred, respectful and designed to help every learner build real independence. They’re looking for an Autism Specialist TA to join their team and support students across the primary or secondary phases.
The setting is calm, organised and focused on helping pupils thrive through clear routines, meaningful relationships and evidence-based strategies.
Responsibilities
🧩 Support pupils with autism using structured teaching approaches and visual communication systems
🌟 Build trusting relationships that help learners feel safe, understood and ready to learn
📚 Assist with academic learning, life skills and personalised programmes
🎯 Follow individual behaviour and communication plans
🤝 Work closely with teachers, therapists and parents to maintain consistent support
🧘 Encourage regulation, predictability and positive routines throughout the day
🔧 Adapt activities and resources to suit sensory needs and EHCP targets
Requirements
✔ Experience supporting children or young people with autism (school, outreach or care background welcomed)
✔ A calm, patient and consistent approach
✔ Confidence using or learning visual supports (PECS, schedules, symbols, etc.)
✔ Ability to follow structured routines while still responding to individual needs
✔ A genuine interest in helping autistic learners develop independence and confidence
✔ Right to Work in the UK & willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS
