About the Role
Supply Hive are working with a highly specialist SEN school who support children and young people aged 4–16 with a primary diagnosis of autism. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with a strong focus on personalised learning, communication, and preparation for adulthood. With small class sizes (around 8 pupils) and high staff-to-pupil ratios, this is a setting where you can build meaningful relationships and make a genuine impact every day.
The school uses evidence-based approaches, including Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), alongside input from speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and behaviour specialists. Pupils follow a broad, highly individualised curriculum covering areas such as communication, social skills, independence, and life skills.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them engage with learning, develop key life skills, and regulate their emotions in a calm and structured environment.
Responsibilities
✨ Support pupils with autism in a structured, low-arousal classroom environment
✨ Work 1:1 or in small groups to deliver personalised learning programmes
✨ Support communication development, social skills, and independence
✨ Implement strategies such as ABA under guidance from specialists
✨ Help pupils regulate emotions and behaviour in a positive, consistent way
Requirements
✅ Experience working with children or young people (SEN/ASD experience desirable)
✅ A calm, patient, and consistent approach
✅ Willingness to learn specialist strategies such as ABA
✅ Strong teamwork skills – working alongside teachers, therapists, and behaviour analysts
✅ Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
At Supply Hive, safeguarding is a top priority and all applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and referencing. All applicants must have the appropriate qualifications and Right to Work in the UK. Pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
