About the Role

A welcoming and well-resourced SEN school in Reading is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Speech & Language needs, and complex learning difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a nurturing environment where staff work closely together to provide tailored support and help every child reach their full potential.

In this role, you’ll be supporting pupils either on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, helping to deliver engaging and adapted learning activities. You’ll work alongside teachers and therapists to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation, making a real difference to pupils’ day-to-day school experience.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering tailored learning activities
  • Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s approach
  • Support pupils with communication and social interaction
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or transferable experience)
  • A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
