SETPD & Functional Skills Tutor

Supply Hive are working alongside a specialist education setting in Aylesbury who are looking for an experienced SETPD & Functional Skills Tutor to join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support young people aged 15–25, many of whom have SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs and may not have had a positive experience of traditional education.

The role combines the delivery of Functional Skills English and Maths with Supported Employment, Training and Personal Development (SETPD). You will help learners develop the academic, practical, personal and employability skills they need to progress into adulthood, further education, employment, training or greater independence.

This is not a traditional classroom-based role. Alongside delivering high-quality teaching, you will play an important role in building confidence, resilience, communication skills and independence.

The role will involve:

• Planning and delivering engaging Functional Skills English and Maths sessions at Entry Level and Level 1.
• Delivering SETPD sessions focused on employability, independence and life skills.
• Adapting teaching and resources to meet a range of SEND and SEMH needs.
• Supporting learners to develop confidence, communication, resilience and workplace readiness.
• Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate learner records.
• Contributing to learner reviews, EHCP reviews and progression planning.
• Building positive relationships that encourage engagement, attendance and achievement.
• Working closely with support staff and wider colleagues.
• Supporting learners to progress into employment, further training, volunteering, supported internships or greater independence.

We're looking for someone who has:

• A recognised teaching qualification such as AET, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent.
• Experience planning, delivering and assessing learning.
• Experience teaching Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
• Experience working with learners with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs.
• Strong teaching, assessment and differentiation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to maintain high expectations while showing patience, empathy and flexibility.
• Strong organisational skills and confidence maintaining learner records.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with a willingness to travel between centres when required.

Experience in alternative provision, further education, SEND settings, employability, life skills or personal development would be advantageous.
