About the Role

Supply Hive are working closely with a specialist alternative provision that supports young people who have struggled to thrive in mainstream education. The setting is small, highly supportive, and built around strong relationships, consistency, and personalised learning. Pupils are typically working below age-related expectations in literacy and benefit from a calm, structured environment where progress is measured in confidence as much as outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people who need a different approach to learning. You’ll be supporting with the deliver of engaging, accessible reading and literacy sessions to small groups and individuals, helping students rebuild their relationship with learning and develop functional reading skills they can use beyond the classroom.

The role will involve:
  • Supporting with targeted reading and literacy sessions
  • Adapting support to meet SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Working with very small class sizes or 1:1 interventions
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Tracking progress and celebrating small but meaningful wins
  • Working closely with pastoral and support staff to remove barriers to learning
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Experienced SEN LSA and or literacy specialist
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or within AP (desirable, not essential)
  • Can engage reluctant learners and keep lessons practical and relevant
  • Is patient, resilient, and genuinely child-centred
  • Believes that behaviour is communication and relationships come first
This is a really rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a visible difference every day, within a team that values flexibility, empathy, and consistency over rigid systems.

If you’d like to chat it through or want more details, drop us a message — happy to talk it through before you commit.
