About the Role

Supply Hive are looking for an experienced, passionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Reading for pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of complex needs (including ASC, profound and multiple learning difficulties, sensory impairments and physical disabilities).
This setting has built a strong reputation locally for its inclusive ethos, high expectations and excellence in specialist provision. Staff describe it as welcoming, forward-thinking and committed to developing each child’s potential—not just academically but socially and emotionally too. You’ll find wide grounds, specialist equipment and a team that believes in doing whatever it takes.

Your Role
You will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with significant SEND, tailoring approaches to meet individual EHCP outcomes and support needs.
  • Use specialist communication systems (Makaton, visual prompts, AAC, sensory strategies) and collaborate with therapists and TAs to ensure access and progress.
  • Foster independence and life skills alongside academic learning—developing young people for their next steps and beyond.
  • Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment where each student is valued, challenged and supported.
  • Engage with families, multi-disciplinary teams and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to pupil development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school’s culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching for children with MLD, SLD, PMLD and associated complex needs.
Use assessment for learning, interpret data and set relevant individual targets.
Maintain structured, stimulating classrooms and manage specialist/sensory equipment as needed.
Promote student agency, independence and progression to next life/school stage.
Support colleagues, contribute to school improvement priorities and uphold safeguarding, equality and inclusion standards.

Requirements
Valid UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
Proven experience teaching children/young people with significant special educational needs (experience with autism spectrum condition, PMLD or sensory impairments is a plus).
Solid understanding of specialist communication methods, differentiation for complex needs and working in multi-professional settings.
Strong interpersonal skills with a flexible, positive mindset and commitment to inclusive education.
A professional commitment to safeguarding, equality of opportunity and supporting vulnerable learners.
Right to work in the UK.

What We Offer
  • MPS/UPS salary with an additional SEN allowance recognising the specialised nature of this role.
  • Comprehensive induction, coaching and ongoing CPD in specialist provision.
  • Supportive, enthusiastic staff team and leadership committed to staff wellbeing and professional growth.
  • Excellent facilities and a well-resourced environment designed for specialist learners.
  • Real scope for career development in the SEN sector, in a school that values longevity and relationship-building.
At Supply Hive, safeguarding is one of our highest priorities. All successful candidates will undergo enhanced DBS and full recruitment checks.
