1:1 Learning Support Assistant (SRP)

We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) at a primary school in Slough. You will be supporting a Reception-aged child who is non-verbal and has a diagnosis of autism, helping them to access learning and develop key communication and social skills in a nurturing, structured environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Reception-aged child with autism who is also non-verbal.
• Support the development of communication and interaction skills.
• Help the child engage positively in both the SRP and mainstream classroom environments.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the child’s needs are fully met.
• Promote the child’s social, emotional, and sensory well being in line with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in everyday routines and play.
• Record observations and contribute to reviews and planning meetings.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Experience supporting children with autism and/or communication needs in a school, nursery, or similar setting.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Good understanding of early years learning and development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset.
• DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain a new one.
